This gig's duties and tasks involve taking the lead
on developing a database that will allow us to capture spoiled movie endings
without having to create a new HTML page for each movie. The database
will serve up the endings, as well as containing some back office features
to allow the crew to spoil movies directly online, with login/user profile
functionality, and a tad bit of reporting so we can track who's watching
what movies, how often movies are watched, and the costs associated with
the movies being spoiled. Naturally, a search function to find titles
fast -- faster than we can today -- is also a bonus of this project for
us.
This gig is for you if you are able to develop a MySQL
database and assist in the development of the PHP web pages. You are likely
going to be detail-oriented, fussy about only doing work you're proud
of, and enjoy working with a crew of heavily caffeniated team of Diet
Pepsi drinkers (who also spend hours every week in front of the silver
screen). The backend environment is Yahoo! hosting, for what that's worth.
This gig is going to expect you to develop and deliver
a functioning PHP / MySQL environment based on a list of requirements
that we're hoping to see. From there, any and all creative approaches
to meet those requirements are welcome and encouraged.
What's in it for you? The thrill of creating something
for a band of non-PHP/MySQL dorks... and knowing that your creation is
the cornerstone of what visitors stop into Frank's Place every day. (Since
inception, the spoiled movie endings section of the site has generated
more traffic than any other area, wings down.) We can chat about other
perks you may seek for your time and trouble (Starbucks card, Frank merchandise,
fame, claiming your success as part of a school project, whatever).
What's in it for me? I don't know how to develop a PHP
environment using MySQL, and am struggling to find time to learn.
